Elections in Djibouti: President Guelleh on track for a 6th term

Djiboutian leader Ismail Omar Guelleh is expected to win the presidential election on Friday, extending his 27-year rule over this strategically important country in the Horn of Africa. At 78, Guelleh, known as 'IOG', has led the country since 1999 and has transformed the former French colony into a military and maritime hub. With the opposition divided and largely silenced, he faces only a low-profile opponent.
