Electricity: Geometric Power puts Aba ahead of Nigerian cities

In Aba, Abia State, Geometric Power’s Aba Power distribution network is supplying more reliable electricity to businesses, institutions and households, reducing their reliance on petrol and diesel generators. Manufacturers report uninterrupted production, traders are extending their hours, and households say food preservation has improved while operating costs have fallen. Geometric Power chairman Professor Barth Nnaji called the more than $900 million Aba Integrated Power Project a dream come true and said the company had received no federal government subsidies. Group Managing Director Agatha Nnaji said Afreximbank’s $50 million facility was crucial to completing and commissioning the project after a seven-year delay.
