Electricity: Socadel inherits a monthly financial deficit of 13 billion FCFA

Established on May 4, 2026, by presidential decree, the Cameroonian Electricity Company (Socadel) faces a monthly financial deficit of 13 billion FCFA. The debt of its predecessor, Eneo, amounts to nearly 850 billion FCFA. The average monthly billing is 40 billion FCFA, but only 31 billion FCFA is collected, while monthly expenses reach 44 billion FCFA.
