Employment in Côte d’Ivoire: Young women in services earn 37% less than men

According to World Data Lab estimates presented in Abidjan on November 3, young women in Côte d’Ivoire earn less than men in every sector, with a 37% gap in services. Services are projected to account for 1.4 million of the 2.4 million new jobs expected in the country by 2040. The Africa Youth Employment Clock, developed with the Mastercard Foundation, tracks estimates and projections for people aged 15 to 35 by sex, age, education, sector and place of residence. The income gap applies to the services sector as a whole—which includes areas such as retail, hospitality, transport, education and health—and not necessarily to every occupation.
