Energy costs rise as gas hits ₦1,500/kg

The price of cooking gas has risen by 25% to ₦1,500 per kilogram from ₦1,200, adding to the rising energy costs for households and businesses. Diesel prices have also climbed to ₦2,300 per litre, with significant increases noted in Lagos and Port Harcourt. In Lagos, Ibachem recorded the largest increase, with its price rising from ₦1,830 to ₦2,000 per litre. This situation could further increase operating costs for businesses relying on diesel.
