EPL: Three reasons Man Utd will not sack Carrick before Chelsea clash

Manchester United has decided to keep Michael Carrick as manager for now, despite serious discussions about sacking him. The Athletic reports that the cost of dismissing him and hiring a replacement—particularly if United pursues former Newcastle boss Eddie Howe—is one reason for the decision. The club’s hierarchy is divided over the available candidates and may wait until the upcoming break to give a new manager time to settle in. This weekend’s trip to Chelsea could still change the situation if United produces another poor performance.
