EPRA Warns Fuel Prices Could Rise Further if Middle East Conflict Escalates

EPRA Director-General Edward Mwirigi warned Parliament that fuel prices in Kenya could rise further if conflict in the Middle East continues to disrupt petroleum supplies. He attributed the sharp increase announced on October 14 to Gulf supply disruptions and attacks on infrastructure and vessels, which forced importers to seek more expensive alternatives, including Singapore. In Nairobi, petrol now costs Ksh226.96 per litre, diesel Ksh227.76 and kerosene Ksh219.87. MPs questioned EPRA about the increases and public notification of supply disruptions, while the National Assembly passed a three-month extension of the 8% VAT rate on fuel.
