EPZ firms shed 5,337 job openings amid Agoa uncertainty

Kenya lost over 5,000 new job opportunities in its Export Processing Zones (EPZs) in the last financial year due to uncertainty over duty-free access to the US market. Data shows that 6,732 jobs were created, a drop of 5,337, or 44.2%, from the previous year. The uncertainty regarding the Agoa extension contributed to this setback, despite the US Congress approving legislation extending Agoa through the end of 2028.
