Ethiopia: Army announces killing of 272 Tigrayan rebels

The Ethiopian army announced it had killed 272 Tigrayan rebels in the Amhara region amid escalating violence. Clashes occurred between Ethiopia's National Defense Forces and the Tigray People's Liberation Front in the neighboring states of Afar and Amhara. The rebels are attempting to seize control of towns like Yallo and Weldiya, aiming to cut supply lines and advance toward Addis Ababa, following a strategy from the 2020-2022 war. The Ethiopian president condemned foreign interference at the UN, following the lifting of US sanctions on arms to Ethiopia and Eritrea.
