Ethiopia-Eritrea: Diplomatic Breaks Amid Conflict

Ethiopia expelled ten Eritrean diplomats and closed its embassy in Asmara, accusing Eritrea of supporting the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF). In response, Eritrea announced the complete rupture of diplomatic relations with Ethiopia, worsening relations after a period of improvement since 2018. Fighting continues in northern Ethiopia, increasing tensions between the two countries, especially regarding Ethiopia's ambitions to access the Red Sea.
