Ethiopia: Leo XIV Calls for Peace in Tigray and Neighboring Regions

Pope Leo XIV called for peace in Tigray and neighboring regions of Afar and Amhara in Ethiopia. Since December 23, hostilities between the federal army and the Tigray People's Liberation Front have escalated, breaking the peace agreement that ended the 2020-2022 war which resulted in at least 600,000 deaths. The pope urged all parties to choose dialogue and appealed for international humanitarian aid.
