Ethiopia: Oromo Celebrate Irreecha in Addis Ababa

Tens of thousands of Oromo gathered in Addis Ababa to celebrate Irreecha, the annual thanksgiving festival, at sacred waters of Hora Finfinnee and Hora Harsadi. The celebration featured singing, dancing, traditional rituals, prayers of gratitude, and offerings to Waaqayyo, emphasizing peace, unity, and renewal. Irreecha, which marks the arrival of spring and harvest season, is a cultural, spiritual, and unifying symbol for the Oromo, who make up about a third of Ethiopia’s population.
