Flights between Addis Ababa and Mekelle, the capital of the Tigray region, resumed on Sunday after being suspended for over two weeks. An Ethiopian Airlines plane landed in Mekelle with government officials and passengers present at the airport. The resumption occurs amid ongoing tensions related to the conflict between Ethiopian federal forces and the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF), despite the peace agreement signed in November 2022. The coalition of Ethiopian popular forces, formed in September 2026, still opposes Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's government.
