Ethiopian government troops, accompanied by a militia, regained control of large parts of the Afar region after Tigray rebel forces advanced up to 100 km along a strategic route connecting Ethiopia to Djibouti. The Tigray forces, which had penetrated deeply into Afar since the start of hostilities on September 23, were pushed back out of the region by the federal army, according to a humanitarian source. The reconquest was confirmed by the NGO Acled, which reports that government forces have regained control of the territories in Afar.
