Europe: Biometric Controls Strengthen for African Travelers

African travelers heading to Europe will now face stricter biometric controls at borders, following the end of flexibility measures on September 6. The European Entry/Exit System (EES), in effect since April 10, 2026, replaces the traditional passport stamp with a digital record that includes biometric data. Despite airlines' requests to extend exemptions, the adaptation period has officially ended.
