Europe named ‘fastest-warming continent’ in latest climate change report

In 2025, nearly all of Europe experienced above-average annual temperatures, with drought conditions in May. Wildfires burned over 1 million hectares of land, and about 70% of European rivers recorded below-average annual flows. Intense marine heatwaves were also observed, particularly in the Atlantic and Mediterranean regions.
