Evaleen Mitei Among Five Shortlisted for TSC CEO Position

Kenya’s Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has shortlisted five candidates for secretary and CEO, including acting CEO Evaleen Mitei. Interviews are scheduled for November 16, 2026, at the TSC headquarters in Upper Hill, Nairobi, after the commission received 124 applications. Kogi varsity defends fee hike, cites 4,032 NELFUND beneficiaries

Prince Abubakar Audu University Vice-Chancellor Salisu Usman defended the fee increase at a Kogi State Assembly hearing in Lokoja. He said the charges implement a 2024 directive to harmonise fees at state-owned institutions and that 4,032 students had been approved for NELFUND loans totalling 536.7 million naira, with 600 applications pending. The scheme also offers a monthly upkeep allowance of 20,000 naira, repayable two years after graduation once recipients secure gainful employment. Education Commissioner Wemi Jones defended the review process and said Kogi State Polytechnic had not raised fees but had reduced accommodation charges by 5,000 naira.

It described the action as a “good warm-up” ahead of a national mobilization planned for Thursday, expected to bring together students, private-sector employees, civil servants and retirees.

‘I’m sorry for my words’: Blessing CEO begs Nigerians for forgiveness

Nigerian social media personality Blessing CEO apologised to Nigerians in a video posted on Tuesday, November 3, days after being released from detention and following the death of her son, Brian. In tears, she said she regretted speaking about other people’s pain without having experienced it and promised to correct her mistakes. The apology follows controversy over her comments on the domestic dispute involving Bimbo Ogbonna and IVD, her criticism of May Edochie, and donations she solicited after claiming to have stage four breast cancer—a diagnosis she later said was not confirmed. She also said she and her mother sometimes hid from each other to cry over Brian’s death.
