Evaluation of the state of siege: deputies of North Kivu and Ituri suspend their participation in the work of the National Assembly

National deputies elected from North Kivu and Ituri suspended their participation in parliamentary work on June 13, 2026, denouncing a lack of political will in evaluating the state of siege that has been in place for over five years. During a closed-door plenary session with the Ministers of Interior, Defense, and Justice, they walked out of the chamber in protest. Deputies Furaha Uma Daniel and Safari Nganizi Jacques expressed indignation over the lack of substantive debate on security, citing Rwandan aggression via M23 and massacres attributed to ADF in Beni, Mambasa, and Irumu.
