Fake Drugs, Drinks and Foods: A Deadly Business Harming Nigerians

NAFDAC uncovered a suspected illegal production or repackaging site for alcoholic and energy drinks at Zamfara Plaza in the BBA Trade Fair Complex along the Badagry Expressway in Lagos. Two suspects, Chibuzor Okafor and William John, were arrested, and officials seized drums, filters, packaging materials and other equipment. Okafor said he transferred drinks into different bottles because the original product was already damaged. The report connects the operation to growing concern in Nigeria over counterfeit or adulterated medicines, drinks and food.
