Family seeks closure of son's betting accounts over alleged addiction

In Jalingo, Taraba State, the family of Paul Nwunuji Matudi has asked sports betting companies in Ardo-Kola and Jalingo to suspend or permanently close his accounts. In a letter dated October 30, 2026, his brother Abraham says Paul's excessive betting is causing the family financial and emotional distress and affecting his ability to focus on his education. The family wants operators to block the accounts, share the request with other betting companies and confirm when the accounts have been disabled. It also urged the companies to meet their responsible gambling obligations, particularly if a customer is under 18 or shows signs of compulsive gambling.
