FAO official says he lost his job for criticising Israeli policies in Gaza

A senior UN agency official, Ben Davis, former Director of Rural Transformation and Gender Equality at the FAO, stated he lost his job after criticizing Israeli policies in Gaza. He was told in July that his contract would not be renewed, allegedly for organizing weekly silent protests about famine in Gaza and for a report on food availability and humanitarian law, which he was asked to remove. FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu emphasized that the organization does not allow political games related to human rights, and indicated he would dismiss staff who violate regulations.
