FARDC denounce violation of peace commitments by AFC/M23 coalition

The Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) accuse the AFC/M23 coalition of violating commitments made under the Washington and Doha peace processes. During a press conference on June 6, 2026 in Kinshasa, interim spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Mak Hazukay denounced ongoing attacks despite diplomatic efforts. According to the army, localities in North Kivu and the high plateaus of Fizi and Uvira in South Kivu are under attack, causing casualties, mass displacements, and material damage. The FARDC strongly condemn these violations of international law.
