FARDC: General Ilunga Kabambi Thierry appointed commander of the 31st military region

Brigadier General Ilunga Kabambi Thierry assumed command of the 31st military region in Kisangani on September 22, replacing the interim commander. He met with the governor of Tshopo to address security issues, including urban crime, and then with the commander of the 3rd defense zone. His predecessor, General Mbuyu Fabrice, was recalled to Kinshasa without formal handover procedures.
