Fear grips Benue communities over influx of armed herdsmen

Fear has gripped communities in Tombo, Mbagber and Ukemberegya/Tswarev council wards of Logo Local Government Area, Benue State, over a reported influx of armed herdsmen. Residents report violence, attacks on farmers, rape of women, and destruction of farmlands. Another group of armed herders has reportedly crossed the River Benue via Shaoo, Basham and Akor, raising fears of attacks on Ayilamo, Anyiin and Iorza. Residents including Joseph Anawah, Mark Iorundu and Buga Audu have called on security operatives to act, while the LGA chairman and police spokesperson were unreachable.
