Fernandes takes aim at Carrick as Man Utd lurch into fresh crisis

After Manchester United’s 4-1 Champions League defeat at Como, Bruno Fernandes criticised the team’s lack of pressure and movement and its passive approach without the ball. The captain said Nico Paz’s second-minute goal left United with a mood of defeat; Paz scored again, while Tasos Douvikas and Jacobo Ramon also found the net before Joshua Zirkzee scored in stoppage time. Asked whether his remarks criticised Michael Carrick’s tactics, Fernandes said that was for the manager and staff to assess, but called for United to press higher and take risks. The loss extended United’s winless run to seven games, and Youri Tielemans also said the performance was not good enough.
