FG, Benue Government to Expand Makurdi Flyover into Dual Carriageway

The Federal Government and Benue State plan to expand the Wurukum Flyover in Makurdi into a dual carriageway to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow. Federal Controller of Works in Benue Mukaila Danladi said the project was 69.87 per cent complete and work under the revised design would begin once it is approved. The carriageway would be widened to 10.3 metres on each side, with a one-metre median, and further traffic diversions may be introduced during construction. Begun in September 2025 as part of the Makurdi–9th Mile road dualisation project, the flyover is included in a wider road programme spanning about 250 kilometres.
