FG targets 172 LGAs with maternal health incentives

The Federal Government launched a new incentive program targeting pregnant women in 172 Local Government Areas across 33 states to reduce maternal and newborn mortality in Nigeria. Minister of Health, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, stated that the country accounts for nearly 29% of global maternal deaths. The program aims to reduce maternal mortality by 30% and neonatal mortality by 20% by 2028 while providing free care to about 2.9 million pregnant women.
