The Federal Government's electricity subsidy bill rose to N1.928 trillion in 2025, accounting for 57.44% of the total Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET) invoice. This obligation decreased from 2024 due to reduced energy offtake by electricity distribution companies (DisCos) and an increase in energy allocated to Band A customers. The DisCos billed N2.988 trillion but collected only N2.319 trillion, leaving an outstanding balance of N669.49 billion.
