Fils Mukoko’s threatening remarks prompt action from the government, CSAC and justice system

After UDPS official Fils Mukoko threatened on social media to arm young people to target Western nationals in the DRC, authorities took several measures. The CSAC barred him from speaking in the media and on social networks for 88 days, citing, among other grounds, respect for human life and diplomatic missions. MRC–Honourable Ngo Issi dispute: Me Sikati calls for a “mental maturity certificate” for legislative candidates

Cameroonian lawyer Me Sikati, who is close to the MRC, criticized a Facebook post by Rolande Ngo Issi, a PCRN deputy for Nyong-et-Kellé and a member of the Higher Judicial Council. Fils Mukoko’s remarks: Aimé Boji Sangara rejects violence as a way to resolve diplomatic tensions and calls for embassies in Kinshasa to be secured

National Assembly President Aimé Boji Sangara condemned threats by Fils Mukoko, former deputy director-general of Kinshasa’s RASKIN, against Westerners and their diplomatic missions in the city. He said tensions between states must be resolved diplomatically and called for the protection of embassies and foreign nationals in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Sangara backed measures taken against Mukoko, including an 88-day media ban imposed by the CSAC and a judicial investigation, and called for the law to be applied swiftly regardless of political affiliation. Mukoko was suspended and then dismissed from RASKIN on Wednesday evening for a serious breach of his professional duties.
