The National Assembly's Finance Committee proposed scrapping the 25% excise duty on mobile phones and retaining zero-rated VAT for several products in the Finance Bill 2026. It also rejected a clause allowing KRA to issue notices during appeals and opposed including weekends in tax objection timelines. However, it backed the reintroduction of a tax amnesty program from July 2026.
