Fire destroys part of Mambasa General Hospital: patients evacuated

A part of the Mambasa General Reference Hospital in Ituri was destroyed by a fire on the night of September 21-22, 2026. The fire affected the former Ebola treatment center building and part of the intensive care unit. Local youth and medical staff evacuated patients and some medical equipment to a safe location. The New Civil Society of Mambasa is calling for the provision of a fire truck and the rehabilitation of the damaged buildings.
