Five suspects arraigned over kidnapping of 20 NYSC members in Imo State

The DSS arraigned five suspects before the Imo State High Court over the October 1, 2026 kidnapping of 20 prospective National Youth Service Corps members. Mohammed Ali, Usman Aliyu, Babangida Aliyu, Ibrahim Jiji and Aminu Haliru were arrested in intelligence-led operations in Rivers and Abia states between October 10 and 14. The 20 victims and another passenger were rescued on October 7 in Amakohia-Ubi, Owerri West, and taken to the DSS hospital in Owerri for medical checks. They had been travelling from Ibadan to NYSC orientation camps in Abia and Akwa Ibom states.
