Flydubai co-pilot attacked captain with axe, UAE official says

The Flydubai co-pilot attacking the captain with an axe attempted to take control of the aircraft en route to Israel, according to the UAE prosecutor general. The plane, carrying over 170 passengers, plunged 17,000 feet before passengers subdued the attacker and regained control. Captain Smit Machchhar was injured but managed to land the plane safely in Saudi Arabia with the help of two reserve pilots. The attacker, an Omani national, was reportedly radicalized and called out for death after being subdued.
