The President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Babatunde Akinteye, stated that politicians promising to restore fuel subsidy ahead of the 2027 elections are merely playing politics. Akinteye emphasized that fuel subsidy is no longer sustainable in Nigeria and called for a debate on how to use the savings from subsidy removal to improve the lives of Nigerians, particularly students and youths. He also urged students to demand clear answers from political aspirants on how they plan to finance any proposed subsidy regime.
