Football: 2025 Africa Cup of Nations winner to be known in late November, nearly a year after the final

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) said on October 19, 2026, that it would issue its decision on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final between Senegal and Morocco in late November. Senegal is challenging the CAF decision of March 17, which declared the team to have forfeited after it left the pitch during the January 18 final and recorded a 3–0 win for Morocco. Following a closed-door hearing on October 8, the arbitrators began deliberations and are preparing a reasoned award. The Royal Moroccan Football Federation welcomed CAF’s ruling, while Senegal’s federation appealed to CAS.

Provincial executive secretary Jules Fila Kimfumu set the start date for November 2 and the end of the competition for May 31, 2027, provided three grounds are available. The championship, originally scheduled to begin on September 15, was delayed by administrative and logistical constraints.
