Football: Tenerife striker Jesús de Miguel dies aged 30

Tenerife striker Jesús de Miguel died at 8 a.m. Tuesday, aged 30, after suffering cardiac arrest following a collision in a Spanish second-division match. During stoppage time on Monday at the Estadio Heliodoro Rodríguez López, he was struck in the chest by Andorran goalkeeper Jesús Owono with the score tied 2-2. Owono was sent off and the match was halted; De Miguel received treatment on the pitch and was taken to hospital, after the club had initially said his condition was stable and that he was in intensive care. Born in Madrid in 1996, he made his professional debut for Leganés B in 2015 and played for several lower-division Spanish clubs before joining Tenerife.
