Force sex on wife, face life imprisonment — Lagos govt warns

The Lagos State Government has warned husbands against having sexual intercourse with their wives without consent, stating that offenders could face life imprisonment if convicted. Haroun Adebayo, Director of Public Prosecutions, explained that while Lagos law does not classify this as rape, it can be considered sexual assault by penetration. He emphasized that if a wife refuses sex and her husband forces her, she has the right to report the matter to the authorities.
