Foreign national beaten to death by mob in South Africa

A foreign man in his late 30s or early 40s was beaten to death Thursday by a mob of about 50 people in central Durban, police said. The attack took place on the sidelines of a march whose purpose was unclear; the victim’s nationality and the motive remain unknown. Durban has seen months of protests against migrants, with violence and looting following an anti-migrant march two weeks ago.
