Foreign shipping firms reject double port-charging claims

The Shipping Association of Nigeria (SAN) rejected claims that shipping companies charge importers double for electronic cargo release services. SAN Chair Boma Alabi explained that the Telex Release process is outdated and should not be confused with the Electronic Bill of Lading, which incurs no dollar charges abroad. She also highlighted that shipping companies are already bearing significant operating costs due to inflation and currency volatility.
