Tourists in Kenya can now use instant payment apps like Tourist Tap, which allow payments without a local SIM card. While this solution is convenient, it comes at a high cost, with transaction fees reaching up to 5% of the amount sent, significantly more than local mobile payment options. Other similar services, such as Cashia, also provide solutions without a phone number but at steep rates.
