Forgery trial: NYSC disowns former Minister Nnaji’s discharge certificate and identifies four defects

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) told the Federal High Court in Abuja that the discharge certificate attributed to former minister Geoffrey Nnaji was not issued by the organisation. NYSC Assistant Director for Certification Yusuf Abubakar Jumare cited four defects: a certificate-number prefix introduced in 1990, a four-digit call-up number instead of five, a 13-month service period, and a signature using the title “National General” rather than “Director.” Nnaji, the PDP candidate for Enugu State governor, faces six charges, including alleged forgery of NYSC and University of Nigeria, Nsukka certificates, as well as money laundering. The defence reserved its objections to correspondence between the NYSC and the ICPC, saying it had not been served with the documents.
