Former ‘death squad’ leader appears in military trial in The Gambia

Sanna Manjang, the former head of the 'Junglers', appeared in a military court in The Gambia facing charges of desertion. He is accused of deserting the armed forces in 2017 after the fall of Yahya Jammeh. Manjang was arrested in Senegal last November and repatriated to The Gambia. His trial is part of efforts to seek accountability for crimes committed under Jammeh's regime.
