Former Govt Workers to Get Ownership of Contested Lang'ata Land, Forestry PS Says

Public service officers living on contested Kenya Forest Service land in Lang’ata may be allowed to own the property, according to Forestry Principal Secretary Gitonga Mugambi. He stated that the Forestry department is willing to work with affected residents to resolve the issue, including proposing that petitioners withdraw their court cases to facilitate a joint survey of the land. The dispute dates back to boundary changes to Ngong Forest in the late 1990s, involving land set aside for residential development, and residents have occupied these properties for over 30 years claiming they acquired them through official government processes.
