Four FARDC Officers Tried in Ituri for Alleged War Crimes

Four FARDC captains and lieutenants have appeared since October 26 before the Ituri Garrison Military Court in mobile hearings in Soleniama, near Bunia. They face charges of murder and destruction of property over operations against CRP militiamen in June 2025 in Mabanga, Djugu territory, which allegedly killed several civilians and destroyed homes with bombs. The trial, known as the “Likidha case,” was moved from Iga-Barrière to Soleniama for security reasons and to bring justice closer to affected communities. Hearings are scheduled to continue until November 5, with technical and financial support from MONUSCO.
