Four killed, child wounded in Bellville taxi rank shooting

Four men were killed, while a seven-year-old child and a fifth man were wounded in a shooting at about 9 p.m. on Saturday, November 7, at the long-distance side of Bellville taxi rank. Four gunmen in two vehicles opened fire. Police registered murder and attempted-murder cases, and the Provincial Taxi Violence Unit is investigating; no arrests have been made and the motive remains unknown. The shooting comes less than a week after taxi associations CATA and CODETA agreed to a seven-day period of calm amid violence over disputed routes.
