Governor Otti offers university scholarship to orphaned debate champion

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has awarded 15-year-old Esther Christian a full scholarship through university. Christian, who lost her father when she was four, captained Abia’s victorious team at the 2026 International Schools Debate Championship in Doha. Otti also gave ₦1 million to each of the five students on the team and awards to their officials and school. The team won four trophies and 12 medals, and Otti approved its participation in the 2027 competition.
