France: dermatophilosis could be sexually transmitted, concern in Lyon

A study by the Hospices civils de Lyon published in Emerging Infectious Diseases suggests that dermatophilosis, a rare zoonotic bacterial disease, could be sexually transmitted. Nine patients were studied in Lyon, seven of whom had visited gay saunas before developing skin lesions. Genetic analyses show similar bacterial strains, indicating possible contamination at the same location. No serious cases required hospitalization.
