France: off-duty police officer stabbed in Paris

On April 27, 2026, a 32-year-old off-duty police officer was stabbed in the 15th arrondissement of Paris while trying to intervene to protect two young women threatened by an assailant. He was struck in the shoulder but managed to subdue the suspect. Law enforcement arrived shortly after and arrested two individuals, including the main suspect. The officer was taken to Georges-Pompidou European Hospital, with his injuries deemed non-life-threatening.
