Fraudulent marriage certificates, residency permits sold for R500

A progress report from the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) revealed that foreign nationals used fraudulent marriages to secure permanent residency in South Africa. These sham marriages, often facilitated by corrupt officials and religious leaders, allowed foreigners to enter on visitor visas before entering into fake unions. The report also highlighted allegations of corruption within the South African immigration system.
