Free daily data: NCC, ALTON roll out zero rated access to educational platforms

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), in partnership with the Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON), launched on October 1, 2026, a zero-rated data access initiative for approved educational platforms, providing eligible users with up to 100MB of free daily data. The program aims to lower data costs for digital learning and enhance digital skills among Nigerians. NCC CEO Dr. Aminu Maida stated that the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s goal of building a $1 trillion economy through investments in education and access to learning resources, emphasizing its potential to bridge educational disparities nationwide.
